The Partida Family / Oil / 60"x48"
Saul was a carpenter friend of mine at the billboard company I worked for and, when he got married, he talked about having a portrait done of him and his new bride. The subject was brought up several times over the years, but nothing was ever made firm about it. In the meantime, they kept having children until their family had grown to seven. Time went by and I figured the idea had probably been dismissed, but one day he came to me and said he was now serious about the portrait. He wanted it big. The result is pretty close to life size and it's the largest portrait with the most figures I've ever attempted.
