Alum Rock Hillside / Oil / 30"x36"

This is one of my larger landscapes and I should do more of this size...after all, I was a billboard painter! I walked a trail with camera in hand on a hillside above Alum Rock Park in San Jose and encountered a rider on horseback and a few other hikers. It was just before sunset and as I looked out across the hills and down to the trees in the park below, it was an inspiring sight. This painting was on my easel the day our real estate agent sold our house in Fremont. I put it aside while we moved and during the building of my current studio. Finally, over a year later I got it out and completed it. This won a Second Place Award in the 2004 Society of Western Artists Annual Show in San Francisco.
