Overmatched and Unprepared / Pastel / 17.5"x23.75"	This is a departure for me as far as subject matter goes. I've attended several Civil War re-enactments and find them fascinating since I'm a bit of a history buff. Because of this, I have a wealth of photographic material at my disposal. When I was preparing for a show and searching for something unusual to paint I concocted this more or less believable situation from several photos in my arsenal. More than anything, I was proud of the sense of action and energy it transmitted. This painting won a First Place Award in pastel in the Society of Western Artists 58th Annual Show in San Francisco, California.
